With the Brooks column, Redstate exhibiting a
huge boner over Markos and Jerome, Rove setting his sights on the blogosphere and all the trivial and false claims swirling around, I think it's pretty clear that those folks are very, very concerned about the progressive, internet-driven movement.
We're making a difference. We're having an impact, and for some, notably the Republicans and conservatives who've run this country into the ground, we threaten their hold on power.
The most powerful thing we can do, and consequently the most likely to ensure that Republicans won't have the opportunity after November 2006 to continue running the country into the ground, is by doing what Trapper John suggests -
I'm going to turn my attention back to the shit that matters.
That's a sentiment we should all keep in mind - one person can make a difference, but one person does not constitute a political movement and a force for change.
Though they can launch the kind of paltry, exaggerated attacks we've heard emanating from the Right and others recently, it's nothing we shouldn't expect from those who cannot justify the gross negligence, failed policies and corruption of George W. Bush and the Republican controlled Congress.
And though they may attack those among us who play a more prominent role, they cannot stop the rest of us from stepping into the political fray and fighting passionately for what we believe in, for our vision for our country and for preserving that which has made our country great.
And while some on the Right may be mistakenly glib at this moment for what they feel they've unearthed, nothing speaks better to the American people with regards to the efficacy of the "Do Nothing" Republicans and their rubber stamp for George W. Bush than the very events they've mishandled and the wreckless policies they've enacted.
Katrina and its aftermath, and most importantly the failure of Bush and his Do Nothing Republicans to coordinate an adequate response congruent with the principles and capabilities of our country, is a powerful memory in the minds of the American people.
A war with no end in sight and a Republican Party that simply reaffirms the same failed policies of the Bush administration, is more effective than false and exaggerated implications or hollow catchphrases or sham resolutions in exposing the shortcomings of the President and his Do Nothing Republicans.
An economy where wages are falling, poverty is rising and American families can't afford healthcare or education or housing or the cost to fuel their cars just to get to work doesn't support the claims made by the Republicans that the economy is strong. And though it might be growing, the view from Main Street is alot different from how it looks on Wall Street.
George W. Bush and his Do Nothing Republicans, nor their supporters or acolytes, don't want to talk about what matters. They don't have anything to offer but more of the same. And they've run out of excuses for their failures.
Reminding the voters of that and offering them an alternative is what matters to me. And it's the surest way to send the Do Nothing Congress home and start moving America forward.
I am on a crusade for the welfare of the everyday man in the United States. I am not working for special privilege. I am not working for the speculators' lobby. I am not working for the real estate lobby. I am not working for any special interests in the United States but the interests of the everyday man whose interest is my interest--and that interest is your interest.

I'm asking you just to read history, to use your own judgment, and to decide whether you want to go forward with the Democratic Party or whether you want to turn the clock back to the horse and buggy days with such people that made up that "do-nothing" 80th Congress.
